Post Technical problem: PDF Format to upload
My friend is assisting me with uploading my TRN target responses for feedback.

He is prepared to send the PDF attachment via email. However, he is not prepared to provide the information in your web site format. He attempted but it failed.

Please provide instructions on how to get "pdf" into the conversion needed for posting.

Thanks,

You will need a secondary web host to post PDF. Why not just stick to JPG and use photobucket.com?

Post Re: working on upload.
Thank you, I have passed your recommendation on. Another Rver made the same recommendation, but the message apparently did not sink in with my helpers (a neighbor and his buddy with a scanner).

I go to the town that is the 3rd furthest away to use a computer. It has a larger population (almost 400). I do not know all who have scanners and computer know-how, but my neighbor knows of one or two. I write this to help explain why I have not posted yet. I am sort of on hold until I can get help. I will be going to the big city (about 90 min. away) at the end of the month. IF I cannot get the help I need by then, I will swing by a Office Supply/Copy Service and see what they can offer.

Post Re: Technical problem: unexperienced with Photobucket
Can you provide more specific instuctions regarding photobucket?

My computer savy friend (Retired Engineer) thinks that my three sessions are out of sequence since the upload. He tried copying, cut and paste, etc.

He and I both have looked through the trouble shooting section and site map of Photobucket. We still can not figure out how to transmit the photos on to site desired here with LearnRV.

Sorry for the dumb question. - Thanks.

Why don't click on the "quote" button in the upper right of this window pane where the arrow is pointing so you can see the BBCode used to link the photo file of the arrow pointing at the "quote" button. Your retired engineer amigo should be computer savvy enough to take it from there.

Have you read the posting instructions at this Administrator's **READ THIS** post?

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=85

If you have trouble reading the code line in the dark box about halfway down the page, change your browser's style setting. (For Windows Internet Explorer, click on view, run down the menu to Style, and click on No Style.)

If you've read that and you still need the step by step, here it is:

Scan each page of your session individually to produce one .jpg or .gif file for each page. Scan in black and white or grayscale to keep file size down.

Resize each image to a width of 600 pixels, keeping the original aspect ratio. Save each image file as a filename you'll understand in a folder you can find (including part or all of the TRN and the page number in the file name isn't a bad idea). If your scanner software won't do the resize, you'll need a photo editing program to do it. Photobucket also has a feature that will let you resize them after you upload them. I've never used it so I can't tell you if it is a good idea or not, but it's cheaper than buying photo editor software if you don't have any.

If you don't already have one, open an account with a webhost (e.g.: Photobucket).

Upload the resized image to an album on your web host.

Get a BB img coded url for each image. On Photobucket you can get these when you originally upload the photos. If you miss that oportunity, you can get them later by opening the album they're in from the My Home/All Albums page. Once the album is open your images will display as little thumbnail size images. When you roll your cursor over one of these thumbnails, a dialog box will open below the thumbnail image. Near the bottom of the dialog box you will see IMG Code in bold black letters. Next to this is a box with the img code in it. Highlight the text in that box by left clicking on it. Right click on the highlighted text and select the copy option. At this point it is best to open a basic text editor like Notepad and paste the img code into it to see what you got. It should look very similar to the code line shown in the Administrator's **READ THIS** post linked to above.

Alternatively, you can open the album, click on the check box at the bottom of the page to select all of the images, and then click on the "Generate HTML and IMG code" button. On the next page that comes up, go down to the box that is titled "IMG images for message boards". Left click in the box to highlight all the codes, then right click, copy, and paste into Notepad or whatever basic text editor you are using.

Once you have the code lines in your text editor, no matter what order they were in when you uploaded them, you can change the order in the text editor to put page 1 at the top, page 2 below that, etc., etc. After you finish editing, log onto the RVCommunity.net website and copy and paste your text into the body of your new post.
